Having worked in New York, as well in London and Moscow, I can assure that this experience is quite invaluable. Not merely from the perspective of having a more enlightened perspective of the global marketplace. But also due to the fact mostBriannoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8575334444752638591.post-77325954217971528122013-10-17T16:27:56.357-04:002013-10-17T16:27:56.357-04:00Paul, you did a story about this a while back...an...Paul, you did a story about this a while back...and I still agree with you...I'm in a sales position now for the past two years...my resume did not say sales, but my client and agency experience was enough to convince them that I could do the job...because I can "walk the walk" and "talk the talk" with me prospects. When hiring for yourself, only you know what and who you really want. And that isn't a knock on HR, but it is simply a more efficient way to work.View From Madison Avenuehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18133010500698814644noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8575334444752638591.post-23167702479741803802013-10-16T08:15:18.170-04:002013-10-16T08:15:18.170-04:00Excellent post Paul. He had zero agency experience, but had been a journalist and had run a small business (a self starter). On paper, he wasn't a fit at all...but he is a superstar at Y&R and will have a long career there.mcaplanhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17640506340703804344noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8575334444752638591.post-55565961491908785692013-10-15T13:48:34.164-04:002013-10-15T13:48:34.164-04:00Philip, the advice I give all the time is to meet ...Philip, the advice I give all the time is to meet the most senior person you can in a company. Only that person may have the vision to either change the job to fit the candidate or see where else the candidate's talents can be used within the company.View From Madison Avenuehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18133010500698814644noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8575334444752638591.post-5848163565529264052013-10-15T13:46:38.286-04:002013-10-15T13:46:38.286-04:00I know how right you are, Lysle.I know how right you are, Lysle.View From Madison Avenuehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18133010500698814644noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8575334444752638591.post-676669425267091132013-10-15T12:54:30.835-04:002013-10-15T12:54:30.835-04:00Good Post, Paul.
